John Root graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2002. He received his undergraduate education at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Root accepted a judicial clerkship position with Larimer County District Court Judge Arnaud Newton. Following this clerkship, he entered private practice in Fort Collins with the firm of Wick and Trautwein, LLC, where he was employed until he became a partner in the expanded firm of Frey McCargar Plock and Root, effective January 1, 2012.
Mr. Root’s practice focuses on civil litigation, construction, business, and real estate law. He represents a diverse clientele including entrepreneurs, business owners, landowners, developers, contractors, homeowners associations and individuals.
Mr. Root is a member of the Larimer County and Colorado Bar Associations, and recently served as the president of the Larimer County Bar Association Young Lawyers.
Mr. Root and his wife, Carrie, have three children. Mr. Root is an avid skier and whitewater kayaking enthusiast.
